Getting started

What devices does Scroll Hope run on?

Scroll Hope is free for iPhone and iPad. You can also read on the web at scrollhope.com/read, though likes, notes, reading progress, and settings are only saved in the app.

Which Bible translations are included?

The King James Version (KJV), Berean Standard Bible (BSB), World English Bible (WEB), and American Standard Version (ASV). Switch between them from the ⋯ menu in the top left. Your likes and notes follow each verse across all four.

How do I jump to a book, chapter, or verse?

Tap the reference at the top of the screen to open the index, then choose a book, chapter, and verse. You can also search for words, a phrase in quotes, or a reference like “Psalm 23” or “1 Cor 13:4”.

Can I change how it looks?

Yes. In Settings, choose a background style and colors, the motion, the font, text size, weight, and alignment. Under Appearance, pick Light, Dark, or System to follow your device.

App Lock

How do I set up App Lock?

Go to Settings → App Lock, turn on Lock Apps Until I Read, and allow Screen Time access when iOS asks. Choose the apps to lock and your daily goal, either minutes read or a number of verses. Those apps stay locked each day until you reach the goal in Scroll Hope.

Why does App Lock ask for notifications?

When you open a locked app, its screen offers a button to go read in Scroll Hope. iOS doesn’t let that screen open another app directly, so Scroll Hope sends you a notification you can tap instead. Without notifications, App Lock still works; you just open Scroll Hope yourself.

When do my apps lock again?

At the daily reset, which you can change under Settings → App Lock → Daily Reset. To start today’s lock over, use Reset Today’s Lock there.

Can Scroll Hope see which apps I lock?

No. Apple’s Screen Time keeps your choices private, and Scroll Hope only knows how far you are toward today’s goal. See our Privacy Policy.

Sync, tips, and more

Do my likes and notes sync between devices?

Yes, through iCloud. Sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for Scroll Hope on each device. Syncing can take a few minutes, and you can check its status under Settings → iCloud Sync.

How do I restore a tip or supporter extras?

Tips are tied to your Apple Account. Go to Settings → Support Scroll Hope and tap Restore Purchases. For refunds, use Apple’s Report a Problem.

How do I get the Verse of the Day?

Turn it on under Settings → Daily Verse to get a notification each day. Everyone gets the same verse on the same date, in the app and on the website.

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for Scroll Hope. Choose Random Verse or Favorites. Touch and hold the widget, then choose Edit Widget to pick its background and appearance.

How do I share a verse?

Tap Share next to any verse to design a card. Pick a format (Story, Post, Square, Video, or Wallpaper), background, and font, then share it as an image, a short video, or text with a link.
